Accomplishments

As your Supervisor, Peter Foy has built a reputation for achieving what he set out to do. Over the last 4 years, those accomplishments have included:

Reducing the Accidents on SR 118. One of Supervisor Foy’s first acts as supervisor was the creation of the Highway 118 Safety Task Force. The goal was to gather public safety, transportation, agricultural and business stakeholders together to develop a strategy to reduce accidents and congestion on the highway. As a result of this task force, several improvements have been made to Highway 118. To date, these improvements have led to

- a 21% decrease in accidents
- 49% increase in trucks declared unfit for the roadway
- Increased public awareness of cautious driving.

Reagan Library Annexation into Simi Valley. Supervisor Foy successfully introduced the Reagan Library annexation request on behalf of the city of Simi Valley. The annexation process is expected to be complete at the beginning of 2010.

Hitch Boulevard Realignment. In June of 2009, the County approved design funds to study alternate routes for realigning Hitch Boulevard. This project will greatly alleviate traffic concerns for the Home Acres residents.

Boy Scouts of America Graffiti Abatement Program. “Taking Back Our Community.” Continuing a partnership with the Boy Scouts and targeting properties in the Watershed Protection District, 7 total high traffic sites have been targeted thus far for clean up in the Moorpark area. There have been 10 clean up events since we began in May of 2008. A similar effort is being planned for the Somis area in partnership with the local 4-H club.

Fiscal Conservatism. As Supervisor, Peter Foy has a record of fiscal responsibility. Under his leadership, Foy:

- He has supported and led the effort to keep budgets balanced and government efficient.
- Relocated his offices to existing county office space, saving taxpayers approximately $1 million in leasing expenses.

Government Accountability

- Led a review of all of the County’s commissions and advisory boards underwent reviews for effectiveness in an effort to reduce staffing costs
- Successfully created term limits for the Board of Supervisors. Being a supervisor shouldn’t be a lifetime job. Under Supervisor Foy’s leadership, supervisors are limited to 3 consecutive terms.
