Peter C. Foy was elected as Ventura County Supervisor of District 4 in 2006 and was unanimously named Chairman 2008.
Since taking office, Foy has brought a fresh perspective and an independent spirit to the Board of Supervisors. From day one, he has worked with colleagues, County officials and civic leaders to craft creative ideas and consensus solutions to County-wide challenges.
Supervisor Foy believes the first priority of local government is to ensure the personal safety of our citizens, their families and the communities in which they live. To accomplish this, he has always led his colleagues to provide full and consistent funding to law enforcement. This has allowed police, sheriffs and prosecutors the resources they need to do their jobs and keep dangerous criminals off our streets.
He believes strongly in smaller government and a smarter approach to public policy. His meaningful ethics reforms include campaign finance reform, introducing legislation to place term limits on Ventura County Supervisors and stricter rules on public officials and lobbyist relationships. Throughout his term, Supervisor Foy has fought for real fiscal accountability and shown a toughness and determination that is reflected on the taxpayers’ bottom line.
Almost immediately upon taking office, Supervisor Foy formed for the first time a Highway 118 Safety Task Force that brought about a more than 20 percent decrease in the number and severity of accidents. In addition, he created Ventura County’s first Boy Scout Graffiti Abatement Program.
Throughout his life and career, Peter Foy has contributed his time and energy to numerous community and youth organizations. In 2001, he created the Peter C. Foy Foundation to assist those who need our help most: abused and neglected children. In 2009, the Foy Toy Drive donated more than 15,000 toys to children in Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Kern and San Joaquin counties during the holiday season.
Along with his wife, Tara and their four children, Supervisor Foy has lived in Simi Valley since 1984. He is the Past President of the Ventura County Chapter of Boy Scouts of America, and serves as the California Chairman of Americans for Prosperity.
